PurposeA Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is required by class for any Dynamically Positioned (DP) vessel for Class 2 or Class 3.The objective of the DP FMEA familiarization course is to improve your skills to use and understand content of the FMEA report, identify any single failure that may lead to a total loss of position, loss of generation or loss of thrust. Proper understanding of those recommendations will help you to improve the performance or the safety of the vessel. This training will be useful for superintendents, captains, all persons who work with FMEA report on DP vessel. ContentThe training is based on the programme as outlined by the recommendations contained in The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines.
ObjectivesThe objective of an DP FMEA familiarization, as applied to a DP vessel, is to learn how to provide a comprehensive, systematic and documented analysis to establish the important failure modes with regard to station keeping. The analysis must seek to determine any failure modes that can affect the station keeping as a whole and cause a position loss. AssessmentAssessment by multiple choice tests.
